Work Experience Day 1

Dayyyy One

Today I met the odeon management team and team members, they all seem really nice and friendly. They all explained to me their job roles and their duties. The manager gave me a tour of the building, I was shown all the rooms that I was allowed to enter and the fire exits. I was also informed about the local food shops in the areas and so on. One of my first duties was to read their health and safety manual. After spending time reading and asking questions to management team out the stages of their fire alarm system. I was finally told the task I would be involved in for the week..

Tasks- 

-Helping out with projection

-Helping out with checks 

-Cleaning tasks 

-Do training courses 

 I was told that most of my training would be to learn on the job 

(Creating playlists), A plan of the movies for the week 

later on in the day I was shown how to monitoring console. i was shown the basics of how to the console on manual letting the films play throughout the day on demand. I was then briefly shown the film line up. On how to find the films on the system and how to create a playlist. I was shown how they are organized in screens and how they pick the films that are played on each screen.

i was then shown how to Ingesting content and Transferring content this was a lot to take in for one day. So I made sure took a lot of notes on my phone, they said they didn't expect me to remember everything, but I wanted to try and get a good understanding. I also took various pictures and made notes of every little thing I was told so I could learn as much as I could. They told be I could practice and play around with the system but not to save anything. They had examples and templates to follow which they gave me, this helped me a lot as I started to get used to the system and the button and shortcuts.

When I got comfortable with this I was shown how to change Image ratio from flat to scope and how to change the image format at this point everything was getting lost in translation as I had a hard time understanding the tech lingo. But after it being shown to me and a few examples I was starting to slowly understand.

I spent most of the day just practicing and playing around with the software. Most of the time I make mistakes and had to press back or the exit button to make it turn back to normal
